I can't believe that I found you, fate did a number on me. If you end up with my arms around you, it's meant to be. Well, maybe my crazy is showing, but baby I'm hooked on your touch. But wherever my life is going, there ain't no rush. 'Cause wherever you're goin', I'd like to go too, if you don't have anything better to do. I'd love to spend some more time together, so what are you doin' between now and forever? I'll take the blue with the gray days, I just pray the road will be long, 'cause if I'm beside you there's no way I can go wrong. - Bryan White

Wesley at 4 months

Weight: 15.1 pounds - 53%
Length: 23.5 inches - 6%
Head Circumference: 16.5 inches - 41%
His length surprised me - so much that I actually think the nurse had to have done the measurement incorrectly, because Wes is in 6-9 month clothing and his feet push at the end of his pajamas. He seems long to me! Guess we'll get a better idea at his 6 month check.
Now for some cute pictures.
Brothers read together!

Wes takes naps on the big pillow.
Clayton chills out on the couch.

A Few Things

Last night Jer and I picked up a bike trailer from someone here in Logan who was offering it through KSL.com. It was a good deal and easily converts into a stroller, which is nice. It's the brand I was looking for and is in super condition. It's a Pacific Ranger - a brand that Toys 'R' Us used to make. I like how roomy it is inside and it had very good reviews.

I also ordered my new bike today! This is the one I ended up buying:
Clayton's 2nd birthday is coming up (August 29th) and I wanted him to have a really awesome cake this year, so I recruited a gal from my ward, Camille, to create a Yo Gabba Gabba cake. Clay is obsessed with YGG and I just know he'll love this cake! There were lots of great ideas on the Gabba friends website and this is what I chose: a three tier cake with the red monster (Muno) on the bottom, Plex (yellow robot) in the middle and Brobee (green monster) on top. I have faith that Camille can pull it off - I sure couldn't!!!

Lastly, on Saturday we went down to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house with Jer's family. It was interesting - a very nice little temple. I loved all the fabric they used - it was kinda 60s mod stuff in yellows and greens. First, though, we went to a little Falslev reunion in Centreville, had some lunch and then headed for the open house. The best part was that on the drive to the temple from the park one of Jer's brothers (who were sitting in the far back of my BRAND NEW minivan) barfed all over himself and the back seat (and his brother who was next to him). Diane was kind enough to clean it up for us when we got home, but there is still a wonderful vomit smell in my BRAND NEW car. LOL - oh well!

Bicycle Dreams

I really want to buy a bike and a bike trailer so that Clayton and I can get out and cruise around in the evenings. And when Wesley is big enough it will be fun to take him too!

This is the bike I would love to own:

It's an Electra Townie 7D and it retails for $439... so, probably not gonna happen anytime soon. Don't you just love the orange??

I also would love this bike trailer:

It's a Croozer 525 Double trailer and costs $375... boo. I'll probably buy my bike trailer from KSL Classifieds or something similar.

Paleo Week One

When Jo was here for Wesley's blessing she bought me the book that she used to get into shape. It's about a diet that ancient man (paleolithic era) lived by. Consists mainly of eating vegetables, fruits and lean meats/seafood. You may think that sounds similar to Atkins, but on Atkins you can eat fatty meats like bacon, hot dogs, etc and you can also eat dairy. I've actually really enjoyed the diet - I was seriously lacking in the fruit and veggie department before! You can have three 'free' meals a week, so occasionally I'll have a sandwich or a bowl of cereal - nothing too crazy!
Well, I have been on the plan for a whole week now and am proud to say I lost 5 pounds this week! That's not bad considering I took the whole 4th of July weekend 'off ' (but still was sensible) and haven't started an exercise routine at all yet. (Besides all the walking we did this last weekend.)
So, here's the deal: I'm blogging all this to keep myself accountable and motivated. I am trying to go from this 'before' picture (taken on Wesley's blessing day [May, 2009]) to this 'after' picture (an engagement pic taken in October of '05).

From this: Back to this:

I was horrified by that picture when I saw it - I still look pregnant. That was a real eye-opener. There is roughly a 70 pound difference between those two pictures. I have broken up my total weight loss goal into 3 parts - the first is to lose 22 pounds, then 20 more, and then 25 at the end. So, that is a total of 67 pounds - it just looks a lot more attainable broken up like that! I have also given myself 12 months to complete this goal. I'd like to be at my goal weight by sometime in June of 2010. (My 10 year high school reunion is another good motivator!)
5 down out of my first 22 - 17 to go! I'll occasionally be posting updates and pictures as I progress.
Thanks for any support and/or encouraging words!! :)

Fourth Weekend and Wesley Videos

We had a really nice 3-day-weekend. Jer had the 3rd off, so Friday morning after breakfast he inflated and filled Clay's pool and then we walked to the grocery store. We had hoped that the hose water would warm up a little in the 2 hours we'd been gone - so Clay and I got in our swimsuits while Jer fed Wes. Unfortunately, it hadn't warmed up AT ALL and Clay and I froze, but he made me stay and play in there for 45 minutes anyway. That evening we headed up to my parent's house to watch the USU fireworks (their balcony has a perfect view). Wesley fell asleep right before the show started and slept through it inside the house. Clayton managed to watch half before laying his head on Jer's shoulder and conking out.

On the morning of the 4th, we headed out to Lewiston to see the parade there. Clay loved it! Especially once he figured out the whole 'run and pick up candy' thing. We sat and listened to the band in the park for an hour or so after the parade - it was fun! Next we came home real quick to cut up a watermelon and then drove over to Willow Park for a picnic with Jer's family. It was very yummy - home made sub sandwich, potato salad, watermelon, pink fluff, brownies and cupcakes. Clayton and Wesley enjoyed being out all morning, but were both asleep within minutes of leaving the park and both slept for 3 hours! Jer and I took the opportunity and watched "Taken" which he hadn't seen in the theater. Later that evening we walked up to main street and sat with Cristin and Mark to watch the Cache Valley Cruise-In. (Vintage and slick new cars drive up and down main street showing off.) Then we headed home and Clay and Jer got in the pool (much warmer water then).

Sunday we went to our meetings and then went over to my parents to spend the afternoon just chillin'. Dad made fried chicken - yum! After dinner, Jer and I brought the boys home and headed out for an evening walk. (We got a lot of use out of our stroller this weekend!)

Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera anywhere with me - but I do have 2 videos and a few pics of Wesley and one picture of Clay from this weekend.

This video is of Wesley giggling a little. Jer got a lot more out of him on Sunday at Mom and Dad's, but of course I didn't have my camera then. Wes is really starting to talk and giggle a lot these days!

Cute brothers.

Here is a good smile and his infamous 'concerned look'.

Currently I am requiring him to have mittens on at all times because he is chapping his poor little thumbs and index fingers by sucking on them contantly and with a lot of power!

Another cute smile and in the 2nd one you can really see his red hair. He still has blue eyes, too! Though they are a bit darker now - almost a bluish gray.

Bye!
