Jer lit the candle and brought the cake in while we sang. Instead of blowing the candle out, Clay really wanted to touch the flame. He got a hand covered in icing instead and his cousin, Caitlin (on the right) helped him to blow out the candle.
Clay enjoyed a cupcake all to himself. I had to feed him some first, but then he really got into it!
It was a fun day!

i had to dig into Monkey's first birthday cake as well. he kept poking it with one finger then looking at all of us. he had no idea what to do till i just dug my hand into the cake and grabbed a piece.
he just looks too big in all these photos. now that he's a year, he should just stop growing.
How did I miss this post? Dang google reader! Your cake looks amazing - I am way impressed. He looks so happy eating his cupcake...I wish I were eating one too!
He is so cute...although I think he was a little overwhelmed by all the extra attention!! It was a fun day though- thanks for inviting us Clay :-)
