Jer had some paving to do in Kolob canyon this week, so Diane took our kids and Mom took over my Owen-watching-responsibilities for 4 days while I came down to Cedar City with Jer for a little mini-vacay. We arrived Sunday night and head home Thursday morning. Yesterday afternoon Jer and I drove up to Cedar Breaks (elevation 10,420) to check out the view:
There is a smattering of 'red rock' around here and it is really beautiful. I have never been down this far south or seen any red rock. I remember Cristin came out to visit me at USU my first semester and one thing she asked to do was to go see "the thing on the license plates". (Delicate Arch.) I had to tell her no because I wasn't positive, but I was pretty sure that it was like a 6 hour drive from Logan. It was also February, so it wouldn't have been the time to see it or to drive through some of the canyons on I-15 in the center of the state.
It would be fun to take a family vacation down to Zion National Park sometime and take in the majestic scenery down there. Especially now that we have this:
Our very own minivan! It's a 2009 Sienna LE - thanks Aunt Shauna!! :)
It is totally awesome. I never thought I'd like a minivan, but it's got such cool features, like the automatic sliding back doors - I can open them with my key beeper from a distance! Clay especially loves the DVD player - that kid would drive around all day watching Super Why in the backseat. I only use it as a treat or on long car rides, but he asks to 'watch' whenever we get in! It's also really nice for the kids to have their own AC/heat vents. I also have bluetooth phone capabilities which is super cool. I have been calling everyone from my car for fun. :)
We are so grateful to be able to have this new vehicle so I can transport all three kids in car seats during the day when I'm watching Owen. It is extremely important to me to be able to be mobile.

congrats on the vacay and the minivan. i don't know what i would do without mine... it makes such a huge difference once there's more than one car seat to tote around.
I heart the red rocks. I keep teling Ross I want to move back to St. George (usually these comments are made from September to May only, however). I bet that was so nice to have time alone with your hubby! What awesome mom's you have to help out. And I never thought I would want a mini van either, but the more I drive around in a car, the more I see their definite appeal ;)
